One of this years stand out shows for this years Graduate Fashion Week was Birmingham City University, with impressive menswear collection from Lauren Broxton whose post apocalyptic leathers had a touch of the Di Minici/Italian Renaissance about them, my other favourite looks deserving of an honourable mention is Greg Brears whose collection was inspired by engineer overalls, with inspiration coming from sculptor Antony Gormley, whose best known works include the ‘Angel of the North’ and Birmingham’s iconic ‘Iron Man’ statue with . Birmingham showed an array of incredible styles and approaches, highlighting the experimental nature of graduate collections, with designers pushing boundaries in both form and function.
