Vee Hayward’s graduate collection ‘Untitled’ focuses on an exploration of form, shape and silhouette. Her initial starting point stemmed from the works of artists such as Agnes Jones, Rene Magritte, Georgio De Chirico and sculptor by Max bill. The Varying translations of surrealism and the fluidity of communication between textile and the human form, as well as juxtaposing sources of inspiration with design features present a reoccurring theme within the collection.
Vee Hayward experimented with abstract drape and stand work to form bold, unusual, sculptural and graphic silhouettes, specifically focusing around the head, alongside a series of different structural and pleating samples. These initial investigations prompted Vee’s designs and enabled her to discover new and unique techniques. The process was very much a case of trial and error. The gaze of a modern artist.
