“Within my work I focus on my experience growing up in 2000s Northern Britain, I reflect on things I’ve seen or heard or experienced in Liverpool in this editorial.”
“I have a fond memory with my mother, she took me to see a live art performance when I was little, consisting of 30ft wooden ‘puppets’ being controlled and walked through the Town Centre. The giants had a story of finding each other through the building and architecture, they interacted with the crowd, buildings and city to the point where the crowd was moved to tears. I remember looking up at these dolls in awe, it created a core memory of amazement and excitement.”
“Translating this memory into an editorial, I revisited what my younger self imagined what I’d look like once I was grown up. I used to look up to the girls of Liverpool like I did with the giants, in utter awe and amazement. I thought these girls were ultra glam and wondered if I’d ever embody them when I was older.”
“Today, the women of Liverpool are just as dazzling – Wearing couture to the Asda, and quite literally dolling up to please only themselves, us liver birds are always fiercely independent.”
