Rising South African ampiano and pop princess Tyla releases the remix of her viral breakout track ‘Water’.

The smash hit came out in July and has been building momentum ever since becoming one of the standout songs of not only the summer but the whole of 2023, Tyla is currently the most listened-to African artist on Spotify with 27 million monthly listeners and has reached UK top 5 chart success as well as number 1 for the UK Afrobeat charts.

The South African sensation is still only 21 but has already ticked off a fair few achievements, having opened for Chris Brown on the European leg of his tour, as well as collaborating with fellow African music star Ayra Starr on their hit ‘Girl next door’. ASBO spoke to the talented songstress earlier this year a few days after her 21st birthday, where the songstress almost prophesied her future success,“There’s a lot of attention on us African artists and I’m loving it … I just wanna be a part of the movement and a part of the artists that take it further”. Tyla’s ‘Water’ remix features American hip hop superstar Travis Scott, which showcases the success of the track as well as the popularity of the Johannesburg native.

Tyla told ASBO, “I wanna be the biggest popstar of my time … I would be so proud to say the biggest pop star is from Africa”. With her most recent release, it seems she is comfortably on her way to reaching these dreams.
