Single release date: Thursday, 29th February
Formed in late 2023, the electronica-pop duo has become a distinctive new project in London’s experimental scene. Comprising Reuben Davies Lindley (synths, vocals, samples) and Alice Bradley (synths, vocals), their music conjures a heady, nostalgic soundscape, lo-fi and melancholic, poetically delving into themes of grief and anger. Sonically, it’s a broad church – RIYL The xx, Oli XL, Portishead, Broadcast, Caribou.
Following electrifying sold-out performances alongside Delmer Darion, Opus Kink and Gentle Stranger for ‘State of Denial’, ADAER explores abstract human feelings in an incredibly unpretentious way. Immediately haunting and resolutely DIY, ‘TYOU’ is the debut single from a forthcoming EP to be announced later this year.
Speaking about the release, Reuben and Alice said: “Our first single ‘TYOU’ draws on a time of feeling alienated from those closest to you. Focusing on the retrospective regret of losing a loved one – whether that’s a romantic or physical loss – we wanted to create a sound that flows through the intense turmoil of grief, that represents the overwhelming, indescribable emotion of it all.”
