LOVELOST and their debut single ‘BURNBRIGHT’ Out Now
LOVELOST are a quartet from the South West, UK. LOVELOST intertwines the nostalgic essence of old-school emo music with a modern twist, carving a unique space within the alternative rock scene by creating a refreshing yet emotive experience. The band release their debut single ‘Burnbright’ on the 8th March 2024 on label Year Of The Rat Records.
1. For someone that is yet to discover LoveLost in 5 words how would you describe yourself ?
Emotive, Nostalgic, Vulnerable, Energetic and Passionate
2.What inspired you as an artist?
As a collective we all grew up on old-school emo music such as Underoath, Saosin etc. and that really shaped us into who we are musically today
3. What is your process for preparing to perform live? Do you have any Diva demands? Who’s the Mariah Carey of the group?
We are all pretty relaxed and low-maintenance as a band / people. Although we are quite a bunch of perfectionists so as long as we’re organised and prepared, we’re good!
4. Where do you feel you fit into the music landscape?
We like to think of ourselves as an emo-revival band with a modern twist such as Holding Absence, who are fantastic by the way!
5: What are your favourite musical genres, and are there any you dislike?
Our music taste is quite all over the place. Some of the guys love Djent or Blackmetal all the way to hip hop and current pop music back to metalcore and post hard core! I think it’s important as an artist to not box yourself into a musical genre!
6. What’s currently in the pipeline for 2024?
We are planning on releasing an EP over 2024, more details on that will be announced as the year progresses.
7 What would you say is your greatest strength as an Artist?
Our strength is the band. We are all incredibly supportive and hard-working individuals. We find solidarity in our passion which is the music.
8. What would you say is your greatest weakness as an Artist?
Our weakness as a band would definitely being a hyper bunch, it might take a little longer than usual to get stuff done if we’re around each other haha!
9. What can fans expect from your debut single?
‘Burnbright’ A vulnerable track that paints a sonorous canvas of poignant loss
10. What music artist would you say have influenced your work?
For LOVELOST I would say we take big inspirations from Underoath, Fightstar, Silverstein, Sleep Token and more. These bands have really put out some amazing work that have truly inspired us.
11. Who would you most like to collaborate with artistically?
We would love to do a collaboration with our brothers from SAVE US
12. What was your worst performance?
We haven’t had a live show as LOVELOST yet however there was an incident with Sam with his previous band IN FEAR where took a guitar to the teeth and ended up giving it an ivory finish. Lets just say his tooth stayed in the guitar …
13: What was the most difficult obstacle you have ever faced and how did you overcome it?
To be honest it was starting the project. Tobias was essentially bullied by Sam to start taking this project off the floor where Ed and Anthony joined soon after!
14: What is your creative process when making music. Do you work with others or is there just you?
The process is very simple, Tobias is our main writer and he will lay an idea down. It’ll then be sent over to the rest of the band to check out and feedback etc.
His process is cathartic and very much like writing a diary, so it can be sporadic in terms of how much is written.
15 Where do you see your musical career in 10 years?
10 years is a long time … the dream would be to be a substantial headlining band which allows us to tour the world and play with our heroes.
