Amethyst is a rising star who released her brand new EP ‘Daydreaming‘ – out today, 13th Sept 2024. Amethyst is a 26-year-old singer/songwriter from London who started singing at the age of 3 and never looked back. Her voice alone is an instrument, but Amethyst combines interesting synths and musical elements in the background of her tracks – resulting in unique and beautiful music. Her dreamy, soft, and soulful voice features alongside rich and relatable lyrics, like in the track ‘Loving is a Crime.’
From singing along to Disney soundtracks to playing live at festivals like The Great Escape, Amethyst always knew she would be a singer. She takes inspiration from things she sees or ‘daydreams’, hence the name of her EP. She is inspired by Ella Fitzgerald and Cleo Sol, as well as Sasha Keable and Elmiene. She also loves the country elements that artists like Sabrina Carpenter bring. Her dream collaboration is Cleo Sol or Yebba – whilst also mentioning how she loves Gregory Porter and hopefully leaning into the jazz genre one day.
A career highlight for Amethyst was having her music featured on Radio 1, played in between two artists she adores, Alicia Keys and Beyonce. A moment she will always treasure.
Candidly, she talks of the struggles of being an independent musician and a woman in the industry. “I know women deal with a lot being in this industry, and it’s hard having the confidence to keep going and believing” but she continues to do what she loves and says it’s all about finding people you can have fun making music with.
She advises aspiring artists to “believe in yourself more. Trust your ideas and sound, because that is what’s gonna make you different. Don’t try and blend into what someone else is doing because that’s what’s gonna make you stand out, and don’t be afraid to look or sound different”
