BUERLANGMA captivated audiences at London Fashion Week with its striking blend of Eastern tradition and Western innovation. Founded by Crystal Wang alongside Yuan Bochao and Qiqi Yuan, the brand’s mission extends far beyond clothing, intertwining fashion with music and culture to create a global narrative.

During a conversation with Crystal Wang, she opened up about how music remains a cornerstone of her creative process. Originally trained as a singer, Wang shifted her focus to fashion but never abandoned her musical roots. “Music is my passion,” she said. “It’s what fuels me creatively. Fashion and music are platforms that bring people together.”

This deep connection to music is evident not only in BUERLANGMA’s aesthetic but also in its ethos. The brand has evolved into a multi-dimensional label, with its own music production, often incorporating techno influences, a genre Wang personally loves.

The tone was set for their Ancient Future collection as the dark, ethereal sounds met theatrical pieces. The styles exuded a sense of urgency and mystery, much like the beats that underscored the show.

“Our goal is to exhibit Chinas vibrant, creative work to the World,” Crystal told me. Having grown up in the United States, she noticed many misconceptions about Chinese culture, and BUERLANGMA was born to challenge these stereotypes. The fusion of Eastern and Western elements is central to her philosophy, and the designs reflect a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. As Crystal put it, “Fashion and music are platforms to bring people together.”

Named after Qomolangma, the highest mountain in the world, BUERLANGMA’s values emphasise uniqueness and ambition. Just as the brand seeks to break cultural boundaries, it also strives to reach the pinnacle of fashion and creativity, offering a fresh, globally-minded perspective.
