NEW SINGLE: WHATS YOUR NAME: OUT 11TH OCTOBER
1.Who is ‘ Disaster Bait’
Disaster bait is James Bamford on vocals, Greg Balme on saxophone and James Gill on bass. With a barely working laptop doing everything else.
2. For someone that is yet to discover you, how would you describe your music?
I’d say our music is noisy, vaguely drum n bass and techno inspired post punk. Like the prodigy but just worse
3. What inspired you as an artist?
What inspired us to do this band was seeing bands like fat dog, get down services and sleaford mods do so much with laptops in a rock setting. It was a lightbulb moment like “oh wait we don’t actually need a drummer just run everything we can’t do off Fl studio”
4. What is your process for preparing to perform live? Do you have any Diva demands?
Our before set ritual is drink as many free pints from the rider as we can (sorry pole-vaulter)
5. Where do you feel you fit into the music ?
We don’t
6: What are your favourite musical genres, and are there any you dislike?
We all really like a lot of punk, metal and electronic music but also pop, jazz, funk and other bits. Not much we don’t like in fairness
7. Is there a story behind the new single ?
Is there a story behind it? Not really
8. What would you say is your greatest strength as an artist?
Our greatest strength is not practicing before shows
9. What would you say is your greatest weakness as an artist?
Our greatest weakness is personal hygiene
10. What can fans expect from your new single
What people can expect from “whats your name” is an assortment of sounds and timbres that could be described as music
11. What music artist would you say have influenced your work?
Our biggest inspiration is super freak by Rick James. Not a joke.
12. Who would you most like to collaborate with artistically?
We really want to collaborate with Bradford based band Sigmund Void
13. What was your worst performance?
Probably the Brixton Windmill. Was our first gig and we didn’t really know what we wanted to be really.
14: What was the most difficult obstacle you have ever faced and how did you overcome it?
Our most difficult obstacle was living in London. We over came this by not living in London
15: What is your creative process when making music. Do you work with others or is there just you?
The creative process is James G or Greg will write something and then we all just layer our own ideas on top
16: Where do you see your musical career in 10 years?
Hopefully as a band in ten years we’ll still be making music and with any luck playing regular gigs
17: The UK seems to have gone in to melt down regarding the Oasis Reunion, are you bothered by It?
We would pay to not see them live
