Dancefloors around the world are buzzing with excitement as Girls Don’t Sync gear up for their first official release, “Come Thru,” dropping on November 1st on their own label, Fourmation Records. This all-female DJ and production powerhouse, comprised of Matty Chiabi, Gaia Ahuja, Sophia Violet and Hannah Lynch, already own a fierce reputation for bringing electric energy and inclusivity to unforgettable nights. Since their formation in 2021, GDS have quickly evolved from club night promoters to curators of sets unmatched and Come Thru marks a thrilling new chapter in their journey.
The track has been making waves on air and across festivals, with rave reviews rolling in from BBC Radio 1’s Danny Howard, who captured the song’s vibrant energy, noting its heavy bassline, infectious 90s-style piano keys and a rhythm that “ticks all the boxes.” For fans, Come Thru feels like a classic in the making, a track born out of sheer synergy. As Sophia recalls, “It just came through…like a fruit of GDS.” The result? A bass-heavy anthem that seamlessly blends nostalgia with future-forward vibes.
GDS’s journey is a story of passion and persistence. It started in Brixton, South London where Gaia and Matty went to school together. Immersed in community work, Gaia trained as a youth worker, which is where she met Hannah, who was leading DJ workshops for young people. Gaia joined in, and the two began hosting small showcases for kids and their families.
Gaia’s nights also involved working at a nightclub, where she met talented DJ, Sophia. Recognising Sophia’s potential, Gaia encouraged her to join forces. From that, Girls Don’t Sync took shape, where the four hosted the nights. Their union was initially informal, simply a group of friends promoting club nights. But a spontaneous back-to-back set changed everything:. “We were like, hold on a second—this is pretty fucking good here,” Gaia recalls, and with that, the all-female powerhouse GDS was born.
With the track Come Thru, GDS channel their reverence for the genre’s roots. It’s a labour of love that mirrors the music that inspired them. As Gaia puts it, they’re making music “that honours that era while putting our GDS spin on it.” This mix of respect and reinvention is evident in Come Thru’s structure, where 90s-inspired keys lead into a drop that’s poised to become a dancefloor staple. Chris Tomlinson, a long time supporter, summed it up perfectly in a heartfelt voice note, calling it an “absolute future classic.”
For the group, this release is not just a musical milestone but a symbol of creative freedom. They’ve been patiently waiting to unleash this project, and as Matty says: “Come Thru is a really exciting moment for us… our first official release and we are very, very proud of it.”
As they kick off their Fourmation tour with a stage takeover of concourse at Warehouse Project’s Up Ya Archives on November 1st, anticipation for GDS’s next move is at an all time high. With whispers of fresh tracks on the horizon, fans are in for a season of powerful surprises. Roll on November 1st!
