Flair – Glasgow’s Post-Indie Powerhouse Returns

W: Jack Lowe

Since forming in 2019, Glasgow five-piece Flair have been a band defined by their grit. While their 2023 breakout ‘Run Away’ sparked the flame, 2025 saw them truly ignite, earning a shortlist spot for ‘Best Live Artist’ at the Scottish Live Music Awards and commanding stages at festivals like Belladrum Tartan Heart. Now, they return with ‘Nausea’ (arriving March 13th), the lead single from their highly anticipated second EP, For Lack of a Better Word.

The track is a masterclass in controlled chaos. It captures the frantic energy of a city that serves as the band’s creative backbone, distilling the "melodic sweep of Wunderhorse" and the "bite of Fontaines D.C." into a cocktail they aptly describe as "Buckfast in music form." It is a sound that feels both expansive and dangerously intimate, drenched in reverb but driven by hooks that cut through the noise like a razor.

"Nausea reflects the inner pressures we faced... it channels spiralling thoughts and the emotions behind lineup changes, tumultuous relationships, and restless ambitions."

Lyrically, ‘Nausea’ doesn't blink. Born from the "bleak winter studio sessions" of late 2025, the song explores the darker corners of the band’s psyche. It opens with a suffocating tension—pulsing basslines and jagged guitars that mirror the claustrophobia of a mind in overdrive. Vocalist Tony Collum delivers a performance that is as raw as it is unflinching, turning personal instability into an "emotionally punishing earworm."

"An emotionally punishing earworm that explores the darker corners of Flair’s sound."

As they prepare for the July 10th release of their EP via Revo Pro, Flair are no longer just a "band to watch"—they are the band setting the pace. By turning their roots into rocket fuel, they have crafted a return that is as uneasy as it is thrilling, proving that for Flair, losing control is just the first step toward finding a new kind of power.
