History unfolds on 15 March at Las Perlas as the Made in Malaysia stage debuts at SXSW 2026. Curated by headliner Zamaera, this landmark showcase introduces Malaysia’s independent music movement to a global audience, marking a historic cultural milestone for the nation.
The line up features five boundary-pushing artists redefining contemporary Asian music: R&B talent Murty, indie singer-songwriter Zoe Tan, provocateur Lil Asian Thiccie, electronic producer I-SKY, and Zamaera.
As one of the few Southeast Asian showcases, this event highlights Malaysia’s rich multicultural identity. By blending local traditions with global genres like hip-hop and techno, these artists are positioning Malaysia firmly within the international music conversation. "We’re sharing our identity, creativity, and voice with the world," says Zamaera. This showcase captures a creative momentum that has previously remained under the global radar.
