NEW SINGLE 'RUMOURS' RELEASED 8TH MAY

W: Karl Watson
Stripped of the noise, the lights, and the labels, what remains is the music that truly matters. This is a raw deep dive into the sonic DNA of the artists we love, forcing them to choose the ten definitive tracks they’d carry into isolation. It’s a survival kit built on gut-level resonance—a collection of anthems, heartbreaks, and high-octane riffs that define a lifetime.
These ten tracks aren’t just influences; they’re blueprints. For Televised Mind, these songs represent the standards they measure themselves against—the songwriting that sparked the fire to start a band in the first place. From the trippy solos of QOTSA to the nostalgic charm of Royel Otis, this is the foundation of their sound.
1: Fontaines D.C - Televised Mind
Televised Mind tracks name themselves but when it came to choosing a moniker for the band, it didn't come so easily. Ste was listening to Fontaines one night when he heard Televised Mind for the first time. It rolled off the tongue and the messaging spoke to him. It turns out that this track was also heavily inspired by The BJM.
2: Idles - Damaged Goods
A band that we have been loosely compared to, which can only be a good thing. We appreciate the no nonsense attitude of 'Damaged goods, send them back'.
3: Bloc Party - Helicopter
The iconic guitar riff hits you in the face and grips you from the very beginning. From one of our favourite albums, 'Silent Alarm'.
4: Queens Of The Stone Age - Paper Machete
Insane, trippy guitar solo and a call out to people who talk behind other's backs. Very much in tune and resonant with our messaging.
5: The Strokes - Someday
One of our favourite Strokes tracks, we like how it is a happy, upbeat song yet deals with themes of loss and growing apart. We also just started recording our second EP with Gordon Raphael, the man who discovered The Strokes and gave them their sound.
6: Pixies - Where Is My Mind
The soundtrack to Fight Club; the iconic guitar riff still makes the hairs stand up on your neck. The piano version is also very cool.
7: The Drums - Lets Go Surfing
Just a fun, upbeat, summery track that makes you want to hit the surf. Johnny Pierce is one of our favourite frontmen.
8: Royal Otis - Oysters In My Pocket
A very earnest and charming track, the music video depicts two friends running through the streets and getting into shenanigans. A nostalgic throwback to the carefree spirit of adolescence.
9: The Vaccines - If You Wanna
An invitation to come back and one that we accept every time. The Vaccines are a great live band and this explosive banger makes you want to rock out while also pulling on the heart strings.
10: Eminem - Without Me
Ste was playing an earlier version of 'You Don't Know Me' on acoustic guitar one day when something took over him and he spontaneously started rapping a verse from 'Without Me' to it. Now it is a staple of our live set and speaks to our myriad of influences.
