Today sees a landmark moment in the rise of the next great indie-rock hopes, The Cases, as they drop their brilliant debut EP, Mr Penny. Released via This Feeling Records in partnership with LAB Records, the EP arrives on the heels of a whirlwind few weeks for the young Preston band. Having already locked in a sold-out UK headline tour, massive airplay support from John Kennedy on Radio X and Amazing Radio, and standout festival slots at The Great Escape and Bridlington Spa, the stage is perfectly set for a definitive breakthrough.

Building on the foundations of their early singles, the rest of the EP proves that the band’s knack for an infectious melody is absolutely no fluke. New focus track ‘She Said’ shifts the record into overdrive, accelerating with a full-throttle blur of melody that flirts brilliantly with pop-punk dynamics. Just when you think you have them figured out, concluding track ‘Romantic’ steps confidently into introspective acoustic territory, before building into a searing, dramatic finale that ends the set on an absolute high.

What truly elevates Mr Penny is its conceptual ambition. The EP maps out a beautifully chaotic narrative arc of young love—capturing the exact rush, naivety, heartbreak, and renewed hope that defines the teenage experience.
