Irish singer-songwriter Samuel Blaney will release his forthcoming 4-track EP 'Island Rains' on 22nd July. The EP follows the 2023 singles “Ember” and “Paradise” which were recorded in Blaney’s native Ireland. Since then Blaney has relocated to the Pacific Northwest of the US where he is working on a long-term eco project centred on building a farm and cultivating a food forest. This return to a simpler way of life has become a major source of inspiration for the new music he is creating.
 
Samuel Blaney writes songs that seem to emerge from the landscapes that inspire them. Drawing on the wild beauty of Ireland and the open skies of the Pacific Northwest, his music blends folk traditions with vivid storytelling and quiet reflection. His voice carries a rare tenderness, while his songs unfold with an unhurried grace, creating a sound that is deeply personal, strikingly original and rich with emotional depth.
 
Talking about the EP Blaney says: “One of the simplest things you can do in times of chaos, to help navigate the unknown - is to plant a seed. Grow something. A flower. A vegetable. This is how I want to live.” He goes on to say: “Rains in Ireland, or on any small island, are a constant companion. They feel wonderful on an island. A reminder of the beautiful patterns of nature. I wrote this EP at my home by the west coast of Ireland. The moon comes to the window some nights of the month. The dark space fills with silk. I go to the sea and she is dancing. I wrote this EP for those I have yet to meet: a prayer for others who feel far from home.”
