Last year, ASBO Magazine headed to All Points East (APE) festival in Victoria Park, London. We saw Barry Can't Swim light up the crowd, Interplanetary Criminal set the tent on fire, the "Yoda's of techno" Orbital send chills down our spines, as well as many more up and coming acts that burst their music onto the fields. This year, ASBO is back - and the lineup is sickening.
APE is bringing another heavyweight mix of pop, hip-hop, alternative, punk and electronic talent to Victoria Park across six standalone festival days this August.
Running from 21–30 August, you have the choice to attend all the shows, or pop down to London for your fave.
The opening Friday sees Jorja Smith and Tems top a bill that also features Nia Archives, Ayra Starr, Odeal and KWN, before Lorde takes over Victoria Park on Saturday with support from PinkPantheress, Zara Larsson, Djo, Sienna Spiro and 2hollis. The event has already sold out, with a waiting list now open.
Deftones, IDLES, Amyl and the Sniffers and Interpol headline a show that continues the crossover between hardcore, punk and alternative rock that's helped redefine the event in recent years.
The second weekend belongs to Tyler, The Creator, who headlines two consecutive nights with completely different supporting casts. Friday pairs the rapper with Rex Orange County, Turnstile and Mariah the Scientist, while Saturday expands into one of the year's strongest hip-hop and R&B line-ups featuring Daniel Caesar, Baby Keem, Dijon, Danny Brown, Faye Webster, Ghostface Killah, Mustard, MIKE and Syd, among others.
Closing out the festival on Sunday, Twenty One Pilots headline alongside Wunderhorse, Ren, Gang of Youths and bbno$, rounding off one of the broadest genre-spanning editions the event has staged to date.
This year's programme continues that approach, balancing stadium-sized headliners with some of the most exciting names emerging across indie, rap, R&B and alternative music.
