ASBO magazine spoke to Deadwax at Boomtown 2024, where they shared the story of how they came together, what they love about performing and advice to aspiring musicians.
Deadwax have genuine friendship and love for what they do which shines through as they perform. Audiences danced and cheered as they played an interesting mix of genres with elements of: hip hop, dubstep, grime, rock, and more.
Frontman Jake dubbed it as “New K” and says to not “box yourself in.”
Their advice to aspiring musicians is to keep doing what you love and “throw it at the wall until it sticks” (Skinner guitarist). Drummer Ben adds, “you gotta keep going”. Frontman Jake saying, “make your art and say it with chest.”
