Ahead of her new EP, LA pop-R&B artist Olivia Prado is back with her latest single “Up n Down”, a soothing, soulful hip-hop track packed with relatable girly lyrics and a seriously groovy feel.

The track is the latest taste of Prado’s EP, Dirty In The Sand, out now, bringing together pop with smooth R&B and plenty of girly energy.

Prado says she wrote “Up n Down” while dancing around her apartment, inspired by movement, dance and groove. It’s the kind of track that makes you want to have a little dance around your bedroom while pretending you're in a music video. *Flashbacks to my youth*.

The lyrics are playful and relatable, touching on confidence, femininity and all the complicated bits that come with love and self-discovery. Prado takes inspiration from girl-boss artists like Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Rihanna and Britney Spears, alongside more current names like Erika de Casier and Oklou.

Prado has built all of this herself. She’s spent the last seven years working independently across songwriting, creative direction, marketing, visuals and releases, following her 2024 debut album Liv Laugh Love.

The EP explores love, intimacy and self-discovery. Basically, if you like your music soulful, sexy and introspective, “Up n Down” needs to be on your playlist.
