Brighton quartet Projector return with new single ‘I Need A Lie Down’, available to stream now.

“‘I Need A Lie Down’ is pretty deranged," says front-man Edward. "We were all very excited to be playing together after so long and I think that’s why it came out so mad and all over the place. As a first experiment with the new line up, we’re quite happy with it. As for whether it’ll be our new direction, who knows? Callum wants to make drum and bass, I want to make Phantom of the Opera…”

“I wanted to write something to play live that would maybe make people feel sick and culminate in a horrific wall of noise,” adds vocalist/bassist Lucy, “so I wrote a stupid bass line and the boyos added the terror and shrieking. Good to get back to your roots.”

‘I Need A Lie Down’ comes alongside news of the band’s London show at The Lexington supporting BO NINGEN to round out the year on 16th November as part of Alcopop! Records’ 20th anniversary celebrations.

Projector released their second album, 'Contempt', in 2025 via new label home Alcopop! Records. Currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to a new body of work slated for a 2027 release, Lucy and the band are already chomping at the bit for fans to hear it.

“I don’t want to give too much away but… it’s really exciting,” she enthuses. “We’ve got some plans brewing, we’ve been messing around with a lot of different sounds and ways of writing…it’s coming out pretty weird but I think our folk will like it. I would say they won’t have to wait too long to hear it and see it either.”
