Californian talent Jordyn Simone is making it clear she’s one to watch following the deluxe edition of her E.P. ‘Remember When’ which deepens her tale of vulnerability, infusing her own unique emotional reflections on dating.
Jordyn graces us with two additional singles to deepen her emotional reflections of love. Teaming up with the likes of Dende, Lekan and Reggie Becton, Jordyn unleashes the hardships of dating accompanied by smooth R&B melodies. Touching on themes of heartbreak, love and resilience, Jordyn presents it all on this emotionally charged E.P.
Drawing from her own experiences of love, this EP commits to creating music that resonates with those navigating the multifaceted world of dating, wrapped in R&B Soul, Hip Hop R&B and Neo Soul anthems. Every song holds an emotional and raw story that speaks to someone.
‘Deep End’ opens the E.P.’ s conversation of trials and errors that come with dating. The track hosts themes of risk and vulnerability; the letting go, and the emotional exhaustion that comes with trying to make love work. It’s raw and relatable.
Jordyn then steps into a sensual, poetic territory with ‘Don’t Wake Up’ a track of conflict between intimacy and emotional detachment. It’s an honest confession, perfectly painting that abstract surface-level connection vibe.
‘What We On’ speaks to the grey space of dating in which one is led with neither direction or clarity. Phabo is perfect in this vulnerable confession; he adds an alternative compelling perspective to this track that embodies the confusion of undefined situations. It sets the tone for a track that’s about realisation and uncovering truths and makes you feel the frustration of being left in the dark.
‘Spin’ illustrates the toxic loop of a situationship where Reggie Becton personifies the male perspective in a conversation that addresses the guilt in acknowledging its toxicity yet still indulging knowingly. The track is guided by contemporary R&B, a shoulder-bopping, smooth but emotionally layered kind of track with a subtle toxic fused in the melody.
Speaking to another facet of love, ‘Grey’; emotional unavailability. The male perspective contrasts with a woman who is ready to give her all. This dreamy R&B track is raw and explores a difficult conversation.
‘I Do’ brings a more uplifting tone track, reflecting mutual love and appreciation between two partners. The track feels reminiscent of a vow and takes a positive note in recognising the joy and healthiness that may come with dating.
Both ‘Bad4U’ and ‘Static’ are additional chapters in ‘Remember When’ tapestry of love. Bad4U is a track of emotional distance, a push-pull dynamic where the woman’s perspective holds back, while he’s leaning into the intimacy and “non-platonic” side of things. Both of their lyrics play with the tension between these two mindsets; her wanting to keep things casual and not overcomplicate them, while he’s adamant on letting the spark grow.

Jordyn proves her courage to take the genre by its head through this alt R&B track in ‘Static’, an emotionally charged track of emotional disconnection and toxic attachments. Unlike healing tracks like ‘I Do’, this track is the climactic emotional low point in the EP. The toxicity and tension are mirrored in the sound, melancholic yet intense.
For Jordyn, this project is a raw reflection with romance and dating in the most honest light. It’s a celebration of connection, a stance of unity for the men and women who may resonate with her personal experiences. She draws influences from
Victoria Monét ,Lucky Daye to Jill Scott and James Fauntleroy to shape the sound of the E.P with a rich depth.
She proves that 2025 is uniquely scripted for her success, solidifying her place as an artist poised for a breakout year. Following her breakout appearance in 2019, Jordyn’s rising influence hasn’t gone unnoticed. From Billboard to Revolt, Jordyn has graced her presence in unrecognisable ways. With ‘Remember When’ garnering more than 1 million enthusiastic listeners, Jordyn is undoubtedly on track to become a star — one whose raw honesty and emotional depth make her a force in modern R&B.
