From Jersey to Brighton: Hot Juice Are the Indie-Punk Shake-Up You’ve Been Waiting For

New Single:  'Primitive Animals' Out 4th July 2025

Forget the polite applause—Hot Juice are here to make you move. Originally hailing from Jersey and now tearing up the Brighton scene, this four-piece powerhouse is bridging the gap between raw punk energy and infectious indie hooks. Led by frontman Shay, the band—comprising Jude on lead guitar, Harry on bass, and Alex on drums—is carving out a unique space in the music landscape with a sound that is as playful as it is powerful.

The Hot Juice DNA is a chaotic, beautiful blend of its members' diverse tastes. While Shay leans into 2000s indie, Jude brings a classic rock edge, Harry adds a dash of Britpop swagger, and Alex anchors it all with a love for the "heavy stuff." The result is a high-octane indie-punk hybrid designed for maximum escapism. "We want to provide a bit of escapism from life when it gets heavy," Shay explains. Whether you're listening through headphones or caught in the middle of a sweaty mosh pit, the goal is simple: a good time, guaranteed.

The band’s creative process is as organic as their sound, usually sparked by a single guitar or bass riff before the "magic happens" through jamming in the practice room. However, the journey isn't always seamless. Shay admits that overcoming writer's block at the start of a new project—often caused by getting over-excited and overwhelmed—can be a hurdle. "Just remembering to enjoy it, try cool things, and take the pressure off makes it so much easier," he says.

Their latest single, "Primitive Animals" (dropping 4th July 2025), encapsulates this spirit perfectly. The track’s origin story is pure serendipity, born from a bizarre Facebook review Shay heard while waiting at a bus stop after practice. A disgruntled bar manager had labelled a rowdy group of patrons "primitive animals," and the phrase stuck. Shay obsessed over the description, paired it with a massive riff, and a new anthem was born.

While Shay jokingly admits to being the resident "diva" during their pre-show ritual of pints and hype, the band’s real chemistry shines on stage. "Our greatest strength is definitely live shows," says Shay. "The energy of the tracks translates to the crowds, and we all feed off the energy in the room." With "Primitive Animals" on the horizon, Hot Juice is proving they are the gap-filler the scene has been looking for.
