VIDEODROME: Monro – Loose

Raised just outside London, Monro was tapped into a vibrant range of musical cultures; he now moves fluidly between the UK and Los Angeles, forming a musical DNA that is truly global. His sound is shaped by the wide spectrum of artists he’s collaborated with, but also by the diverse range of genres that shaped his upbringing - from Grime and UK garage, film scores by classical composers, 2000s pop, and classic American hip-hop, R&B and rock. While his early years were filled with guitar sessions and self-recordings, Monro’s path wasn’t without detours. In his teens, discouraged by a lack of local creative role models, he pivoted to filmmaking - capturing early footage of now-iconic artists like Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky through a YouTube channel he started with friends

Monro is a genre-defying artist, songwriter and producer entering the most revealing phase of his creative journey. Known for his platinum-selling, Grammy and Juno nominated work behind the scenes with some of the world’s most acclaimed artists - including Jhené Aiko, Rico Nasty, V (of BTS), NewJeans, Adekunle Gold, Masego and Nines - Monro has spent years helping others find their voice. Now, he’s turning inward.

Monro unveils  his highly anticipated EP ‘These Things Take Time’ as well as visuals for single “Loose”. An ode to his journey, this EP represents him coming home to himself. Spread across 5 tracks, ‘These Things Take Time’ derives from Monro’s hunger to tell his own story. Featuring pre-release single 2 of Us”, Monro takes listeners on an extensive journey bursting with authentic anecdotes. Masked with genre-bending sounds to create a body of work curated for the dancefloor, the London-based artist has developed a sound that has no bounds. Setting the scene with the introductory track “Tempo” a high-energy and infectious cut we swiftly move into “Ever Since You Said I'm Leaving” an emotional crash-out following a relationship gone sour, to the euphoric sounds of “Lonely” and single “Loose” before closing out on “2 of Us”. Marking a pivotal moment in his career thus far, ‘These Things Take Time’ welcomes Monro back into the spotlight for good.
