New Single '' Oh Gena'' Out Now

Newport, South Wales – October 19, 2025 — Hot off a monumental 2025, South Wales’ most electrifying young band, The Rogues, have officially released their highly anticipated single, ‘Oh Gena’. The track, a longtime live favourite, dropped on Friday, October 17th, coinciding with their sold-out headline show at Y Plas Cwtch, Cardiff Students’ Union.
Composed of Andrew Flannelly (Lead Vocals/Acoustic Guitar), Alex Ainsworth (Lead Guitar/Keys), Ben Slade (Bass Guitar), James Mundy (Drums/Percussion), and Rhodri Eley (Rhythm Guitar/Backing Vocals), The Rogues have been making significant waves since forming in 2022.
From Rockfield to the Charts
The band’s upward trajectory was cemented when the title track from their debut effort, ‘1963 (Live at Rockfield Studios)’, stormed the charts earlier this year, debuting at No. 3 on the Official UK Physical Singles Chart. The EP, recorded with legendary producer Nick Brine (Oasis, The Stone Roses, Bruce Springsteen), showcased the band’s raw, potent sound that Brine himself championed, stating: “They’ve got something special in The Rogues… one of the best young bands in the UK.”
Their early success also included their 2023 single ‘Skinny Dipping’ landing on the BBC Radio Wales A-List for three consecutive weeks and receiving national television exposure on Match of The Day.
‘Oh Gena’: A Fusion of Funk and Rock
.
.
The new single, ‘Oh Gena’, is proof that The Rogues are continuing to evolve their sound without losing their indie rock core.
The track is described as a "sonically woven tapestry of funky bass notes, melodic grooves and insanely catchy guitar riffs." It was spontaneously created in a band practice room in May 2023 and has since become a staple of their energetic live sets.
Frontman and lyricist Andrew Flannelly said the song is about "two young people who have a romantic interest in one another, but struggle to admit it." He added that the band’s musical inspiration came from their "subconscious love of raw, organic rock n roll." The track was recorded this summer in Newport, South Wales, with producer Richard Jackson.
Busy Year of Momentum
2025 has been a breakout year for The Rogues, who were named one of This Feeling’s ‘Big in 2025’. The band spent the summer gracing major stages, including the Isle of Wight Festival, and supported acclaimed acts such as Brit-pop legends Dodgy and Welsh rockers Cardinal Black.
With the release of ‘Oh Gena’—a tune that feels like "one of your all time favourite tracks" from the very first listen—The Rogues are cementing their status as a vital force in the UK's burgeoning indie scene. Fans, affectionately known as the ‘Rogue Army,’ can now stream the single on all major platforms.
