"The songs that appear in your dream that you try to recollect in the morning, that feel eerily familiar but still somehow different, that’s the song we try to write. Dream rock songs."

The Copenhagen music scene is thriving, and at the heart of its indie rock pulse is the band shinyhunt. Driven purely by the joy of creation, this four-piece is crafting songs that linger in the mind, sounding "eerily familiar but still somehow different"—what they lovingly call "dream rock."
We sat down with the band to find out more about their fuzzy sound, their creative process, and what it’s like to be part of one of Northern Europe’s most exciting music communities.
shinyhunt is a Copenhagen-based indie rock band comprised of Signe on vocals, Frederik on guitar, Mads R on bass, and Mads E on drums.
"We are very much a band driven by the joy of writing, making, and releasing music," they explain, emphasizing a genuine love for the craft that defines their work.
So, for someone yet to press play on their music, how do they describe their unique sound?
"Our music is fuzzy, dreamy rock music with soft fervent pop vocals and a lot of 90’s and 00’s influences," they share. "We focus a lot on the songwriting and the interplay between the instrumental and Signe's vocals."
They aim to capture the ephemeral quality of a song you can't quite remember after waking up. Their sound fits into a trajectory that pulls equally from American alt rock, British shoegaze, and Scandinavian pop.
shinyhunt is proud to be part of the vibrant Copenhagen music scene, an environment where "a lot of bands have really distinct voices." They cite local acts like miaw, Spawner, GB, and Kindsight as part of the community that inspires them.
Looking ahead to 2026, the band is focused on preparing for a major event: VEGA’s Udvalgte 2026, a big showcase that will kick off the new year. Before that, they'll be soaking up the holidays with a very specific musical mandate: "We wanna try to only listen to Sufjan Stevens Christmas songs for the entire month."
The band identifies their greatest strength as their ability to let creativity flow naturally. "We are good at not pushing songs... The songs just sort of happen and then we follow," they say. This organic approach, where they feel like a "medium for a song to materialize," results in music that is authentic and unforced.
Their biggest current challenge, however, is a common one for emerging artists: networking. "We don’t really know that many people in the music industry yet," leading to a necessary but time-consuming process of "trial and error."
The Creative Process: The songwriting typically begins with Frederik (guitar) and Signe (vocals), with Mads R and Mads E adding their parts later. Since forming in late 2024, the live experience has become increasingly influential, leading them to expand and experiment with their creative methods.
Influences: The band's sound is a tapestry woven from diverse sources. Current favorites include Swirlies, Bark Psychosis, and Rumskib, alongside foundational influences like My Bloody Valentine (MBV), Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, and Radiohead.
Dream Collaborations: When asked who they'd most like to work with, the Swedish duo Horse Vision tops the list. They also express interest in a collaboration with rapper Danny Brown and working with acclaimed producer Sonny Diperri (known for records by DIIV and Animal Collective).
The most difficult obstacle the band currently faces is a geographical one: "Three of us live in Copenhagen and one in Brussels." While challenging to coordinate, this distance has turned into a "blessing," opening them up to the amazing music scene in Brussels.
Fans of shinyhunt can look forward to a new album that will be an "extension of our sophomore album, sea-salt ice cream." The new work will feature more emphasis on the classic band dynamics—vocal, guitar, bass, and drums—as they strive to "strike a balance between tight songwriting and experiments."
When it comes to getting ready for a show, they are still fine-tuning their approach. "We usually gather around in a circle with closed eyes zooming in on each other," but they are considering a switch to the opposite: "shouting, singing and hyping each other up." As for diva demands? "We don’t have any diva demands yet, we will have to come up with some down the line:)"
