LEXII (pronounced lex-y) is a name you should know by now. He is humble in person, but his sound turns heads. LEXII spearheads a rave that sounds both nostalgic yet fresh. Reimagined old hip-hop tracks infused with stomp-worthy techno, house and dance music. It’s infectious. Almost 4 years on the Djing scene and already making serious waves, LEXII is unstoppable!
ASBO caught him twice this year at two epic sets over Pride weekend in Brighton - and it popped off! His mixes are old school R&B like Usher, Aaliyah and Lauryn Hill but mixed with heavy dance that you can dance the night away to. His passion stems from his love of music and connecting with others. Coming from a modelling and dancing background, his DJ journey has only just begun. “It’s opened so many doors for me”, he told us, “I was in New York bouncing from venue to venue and KiKi-ing with DJs I've admired for years”.
LEXII feels most at home behind the decks feeding off audience energy and experiencing the moment alongside them. “It’s an energy exchange”, he explains. “I feel like a mad scientist concocting the next creation. It's the excitement of what’s coming next that fuels me.” His highlight so far is hard to pin down but the MTV European Music Awards were up there. “It was surreal”, he recalls. He also loved the ‘Body Movements’ festival which was filled with community, music and style. Soaking in every moment of performing live and sharing music with people to create the ultimate party has been on the agenda for LEXII in 2025.
When he’s not struggling with imposter syndrome like many of us, he’s sharing his art with the world and creating the best party you've ever been to! He grew up on the soul, R&B and hip-hop songstresses of the 90s but loves UK garage and hard rave techno. His music is his playground and his time to immerse himself, sharing with others. On repeat right now for LEXII is Burna - appreciating the juxtaposed melodies of UK rap and his own signature sound. He likes to bring rap into the queer scene and mesh it with familiar old-school anthems.
Being himself has got him this far, and he advises those aspiring to DJ professionally to “Stick to your guns. Always circle back to your roots, and remember your why”. He is fearless and ready to take the world by storm. His high-energy and passion-filled personality spans from the DJ decks to the crowd and beyond. He advises working hard, pushing yourself, and networking. He's often influenced by other musicians, who inspire him to “Push your craft, sound, and technique”.
If you haven’t caught him live yet, now's your chance. He's playing all across London with no plans to slow down. So if you fancy a bit of Usher but want to feel like you're in Berlin at Berghain - go see him NOW!
