The Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) 2024 Graduate Fashion Show, titled "Stitching Words," was a masterclass in fashion as a narrative medium. Held at the iconic Triennale Milano, the showcase presented a seamless dialogue between heritage craftsmanship and the digital frontier. Under the visionary guidance of Nicoletta Morozzi, thirty selected designers translated complex human emotions into a physical "alphabet" of 120 outfits. The collections stood out for their intellectual maturity, moving beyond mere aesthetic trends to explore the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, traditional weaving, and sculptural tailoring. By integrating a live original soundtrack performed by the CPM Music Institute, the event transformed the traditional runway into a multi-sensory performance that successfully bridged the gap between academic exploration and industry-ready innovation.
The graduate collections displayed a profound commitment to materiality and sustainability, with standout designers like Alice Bertaso and Alberto Gottardo leading the charge in structural experimentation. The show’s strength lay in its interdisciplinary approach; the accompanying launch of the Darwin 20 magazine further contextualized the garments within a broader cultural and social framework. As the garments transitioned from the Milanese runway to the global stage of Fashion Graduate Italia, the 2024 cohort proved that the future of Italian fashion is defined by a global perspective. These emerging designers demonstrated that while technology is an essential tool for the modern "maker," the heart of the industry remains rooted in the artisanal ability to tell a story through the transformative power of textiles.
