Uncompromising Danish trio Smag På Dig Selv (SPDS) have released 'Vik’s Rawcore,' the third single from their highly anticipated album, set to land in March 2026.

The track signals a major evolution for the group, as they invite acclaimed vibraphonist Viktoria Søndergaard into their distinctive, genre-bending sound world.

A Collision of Nordic Jazz and Dutch Gabber

'Vik’s Rawcore' is a startling and contrast-rich composition, fusing the expansive lyricism of Nordic jazz with the hard, industrial pulse of Dutch gabber. The inspiration is deeply personal, stemming from band member Oliver Lauridsen's time in Holland, where he was immersed in the local underground electronic scene.

Søndergaard’s vibraphone adds a striking, melodic counterpoint to the band’s core setup—comprising two saxophones and drums—expanding the Smag På Dig Selv sound with fresh layers of rhythm and texture. This collaborative effort continues the trio’s ongoing exploration of instrumental intensity and freedom, pushing the boundaries of their sound beyond traditional jazz or electronic confines.

The Rise of Denmark's Most Fearless Trio

Since forming in 2018, Smag På Dig Selv—featuring Oliver Lauridsen (tenor sax), Thorbjørn Øllgaard (baritone and bass sax), and Albert Holberg (drums)—have established themselves as one of Denmark’s most captivating and fearless live acts.

Their 2024 debut album, SPDS, was met with critical praise and followed by a series of landmark performances: a massive crowd of 11,000 at Roskilde Festival, a sold-out headline show at Store Vega, and an extensive international touring schedule. In 2025 alone, their explosive live energy reached stages including NYC Winter Jazzfest (US), Athens Jazz Festival (GR), Bearded Theory (UK), and SESC São Paulo (BR). Their fierce stage presence and genre-defying approach earned them the Danish Music Award for “New Live Act of the Year” in 2024.

With 'Vik’s Rawcore,' SPDS continue to challenge their instrumental setup, merging the openness of improvisation with the driving pulse of electronic music and the raw energy of the underground.

Following this immersive Copenhagen-based run, the band will embark on their most ambitious European tour to date, bringing their acclaimed live show to venues and festivals across the continent. Current confirmed live dates are below.
