ASBO had the pleasure of attending a successful run of sold out shows over in Hackney Wick, courtesy of dance party darlings the Fcukers. For Shanny Wise and Jackson Walker Lewis, this era marks a striking pivot. Both hailing from a background of indie rock music the pair have shifted to become the architects of something louder, hotter, and more communal.

Audiences are hungry for exactly this. In a cultural moment where people crave escapism and exhilaration, with recession gloom and creative fatigue sitting heavy, the collective therapeutic nature of party music has only been reinforced. The Fcukers have tapped into that with an impressive momentum and grace. Their tracks operate as miniature explosions that encourage you to shake off cynicism and embrace their electrifying synergy. Both their sound and the atmosphere they have curated while on tour is fashion-forward, much like their audience.
What stands out most is the ease with which they command a crowd. One that moves as one and sings every lyric like scripture. Their following has grown not only because the music is good, but because it feels necessary. With samples such as Beck’s Devils Haircut thrown into the mix, they are tapping into the current appetite for nostalgia and euphoric release, which is clever, referential, and strangely emotional.
As The Fcukers close this run of shows, their trajectory feels undeniable. They have stepped out of the indie shadows and into a sound that is bigger, bolder, and tailored for the moment. If this is the energy they are summoning now, whatever comes next is certain to land even harder.
