Fresh as F*ck: DICE - ASBO Magazine

ASBO chatted to Perth band DICE, who shared their fun, fresh and funky sound with us as we dug a little deeper into the band. Their positive music pours sunshine into your soul as you groove to the beat. Blending indie and rock with unmistakable Aussie flavours, their infectious sound and impressive guitar riffs make DICE a band you won't want to miss.

DICE describe their flavour as “Spearmint. It’s fresh as f*ck”. Nicely said. Bonus points for the special shout-out to mint choc chip ice cream. I concur.

Their inspirations are far and wide, and the band aren't afraid to admit they're inspired by themselves. They also love the “UK Rock scene” like The K’s, and “Harry Styles, because he’s unapologetically himself”. They're currently listening to Wet Leg, Girl Group, Olivia Rodrigo and Steve Lacy.

DICE's personalities shine through the screen. Their light-hearted energy and laid-back nature make it easy to imagine life on tour together. “We’re best mates”, they tell me. “We constantly take the p*ss out of each other". In true best friend form, they can't wait to wind each other up on tour for three months. “We are so excited," Sam tells us. That's when you know the band were meant to be.

Challenges in the industry are inevitable, and Tom warns us to “Stand up for yourself. It’s a really hard thing to do, but when you do it, it makes all the difference”. Sam adds, “As we release more, expectations get larger. As a creative, you need to strip back the expectations and make what you want to make. People love it when you are yourself and making things you genuinely like. With this record, I think we’ve nailed that.”

Of course, we also discussed one of life's most important topics: crisps. The band are fans of a cheeky Salt and Vinegar or Red Rock Deli Sweet Chilli Sour Cream 'chips' from Australia. I mentioned Wotsits and, sadly, they'd never heard of them. They're officially on the list for your next visit, boys! They also can't wait to hit Wetherspoons for their “Guinness and a big breakfast”. Elite choice.

Looking ahead, DICE plan to break the festival circuit in 2026. “Our music is made for the stage”, they tell us. Their dream venues? The O2 and Glastonbury. Judging by their infectious energy and feel-good sound, it might not be long before they get there.
