"Timothy Midnight doesn’t just paint the subculture; he plays the beat it moves to."
W: Kelly Glass

Timothy Midnight first conceptualized "Cats Who Smoke" during an art residency at the renowned Albion Rooms hotel in Cliftonville. A drummer for Nick Diver and The Sprits. by trade, Midnight’s transition into the visual arts was fuelled by the eclectic energy of the Margate creative scene. The series serves as a stylized tribute to the "cool cats" he encountered—the musicians, actors, and fellow artists whose late-night cigarette-rolling and bohemian spirits define the coastal town’s modern subculture.
What began as a gallery concept has since evolved into a multidisciplinary lifestyle brand. Midnight has expanded his feline muses from the canvas onto high-end apparel, blending his signature grit with wearable fashion. By bridging the gap between the London music circuit and the Margate art world, he has created a visual language that resonates as much on a concert stage as it does on a gallery wall.
