New Issue Out Now

Incendiary sibling duo and previous ASBO cover stars, The Molotovs release their debut album ‘Wasted On Youth’

W: Benny Taylor

The Molotovs have spent years "doing the graft" in dive bars and libraries, and it shows. Wasted on Youth is a lean, mean, and incredibly tight debut that justifies every ounce of the hype. They aren't just a "buzz band" anymore; they are a vital fixture of the British scene.

"If you need a shoulder / I've not got one to lend / Why am I the victim of your lies? / How about you / Go get a life." > — 'Get A Life'

The Molotovs haven’t just released a debut album; they’ve bottled a hurricane. After five years of relentless "guerrilla" gigging and over 600 live shows, the London-based sibling duo of Mathew (17) and Issey Cartlidge (19) have finally delivered Wasted on Youth via Marshall Records.

It is a record that feels both like a time capsule of British rock history and a frantic, sweaty telegram from the front lines of Gen Z.

Produced by Jason Perry (Don Broco, Trash Boat) and mixed by Blair Crichton (Dead Pony), the album is a high-octane blend of New Wave punk, indie, and garage rock.

  • The record is anchored by the chart-topping success of 'More More More' and 'Today’s Gonna Be Our Day', both of which secured the No. 1 spot on the UK Vinyl Singles Chart. These tracks prove the band’s ability to turn gritty, road-tested energy into polished, infectious anthems.
  • The Vibe: While you can hear the sharp-suited influence of The Jam and the chaotic swagger of The Libertines, the Molotovs aren't just cosplaying as Mods. Tracks like 'Get A Life'—a blistering attack on social media toxicity—and 'Rhythm Of Yourself' cement their contemporary relevance.
