The Race Against Time: JOR-D and the Surrealist Streets of Kornit Fashion Week

W: Max-Pierre Pearson

The fashion world has long looked to the rabbit hole for inspiration, but at Kornit Fashion Week Tel Aviv 2023, designer Yarden Hanuka—the creative force behind JOR-D—refused to offer a soft landing. In a season defined by technological innovation and sustainable shifts, Hanuka’s "White Rabbit" collection emerged as a visceral, high-octane commentary on the frantic pace of modern life.

The collection title, "White Rabbit," immediately evokes Lewis Carroll’s iconic procrastinator. Yet, in Hanuka’s hands, the rabbit is no longer a guide to a whimsical dreamscape; it is a mirror reflecting the "late-capitalist" hustle. The show opened to a pulse of urban urgency, with models obscured by oversized, haunting rabbit masks that transformed the runway into a surrealist cityscape.

The aesthetic was a masterclass in elevated streetwear. Oversized hoodies, structured joggers, and layered outerwear dominated the silhouette, but it was the narrative styling—the "battle-stripe" makeup and the anonymous, masked faces—that pushed the collection into the realm of performance art.

JOR-D’s 2023 showing was more than a runway presentation; it was a cultural pulse-check. Hanuka successfully bridged the gap between the "phygital" world and the grit of the street. By marrying high-concept storytelling with responsible manufacturing, JOR-D has solidified its position as a vanguard of the New Mediterranean style—bold, rebellious, and perpetually aware of the ticking clock.

In a world where everyone is "late for a very important date," JOR-D suggests that if we must run, we should at least do it in impeccable, consciously crafted style.

s part of the Kornit Fashion Week cohort, JOR-D acted as a canvas for the future of textile production. Utilizing Kornit’s state-of-the-art digital printing technology, Hanuka achieved a level of graphic fidelity rarely seen in traditional streetwear.

The prints featured sharp, hyper-realistic depths and complex color gradients that remained vibrant even on heavy-duty fabrics. Beyond the aesthetics, the collection served a higher purpose: sustainability. By leveraging on-demand digital printing, JOR-D bypassed the water-intensive processes and excess inventory that typically plague the industry, aligning perfectly with the event’s "Fashion Agenda Community" (FAC) goals.
