Following a COVID-era redundancy and a difficult break-up, he made a pivotal choice: to chase his dreams before time slipped away. Four years of relentless research, development, and studio hours later, he has emerged as a formidable force with his project, MALLRATS.

Born out of the cold, dark December of 2025, his new single ‘SMOOTH’ is a testament to the power of creative defiance. Written while battling the seasonal blues, the track is a masterclass in yearning—not just for the return of the sun, but for success in a challenging industry.
The single also serves as a sharp retort to the "bad takes" he encountered in university, specifically those claiming that guitar-driven music is dying or that self-production lacks viability. SMOOTH is Campbell’s proof that with enough dedication, nothing is impossible.

While he candidly admits that the isolation of doing "98% of everything himself"—from mixing to distribution—can trigger bouts of anxiety and doubt, Campbell has found his stride. Looking ahead to the rest of 2026, Campbell is moving from a solo creator to a collaborative leader. He is currently assembling a MALLRATS collective, aiming to foster an environment where performers can add their own unique flair, ensuring every gig becomes an unrepeatable, creative experience.
