Nottingham’s City Flowers Drop Explosive New Single “Anthony” Ahead of Debut EP

W: Blue Angel

New Single ''Anthony” is available on all streaming platforms from 14th November 2025.

City Flowers is an alternative rock band from Nottingham, UK, known for their raw, high-energy performances and a sound that blends groove-heavy rock with dynamic, unexpected elements. Comprised of Mollie Ralph, Joshua Whitehurst, Ollie Green, and Dan Wilmot, they are rapidly gaining attention as one of the most exciting new groups to emerge from the UK alt-rock scene.

City Flowers are comprised of: Mollie Ralph, Joshua Whitehurst, Ollie Green, and Dan Wilmot. Formed in winter 2024, the band has quickly built a reputation for a raw, high-energy sound that blends groove-driven rock with a captivating, almost hypnotic pull.

Describing their music, the band states: "City Flowers blend groove-driven rock with a hypnotic pull and a weird sense of familiarity, like you already know us. The sound is charming in its chaos. Unpredictable, yet controlled enough to keep you hooked."

The band comfortably sits within the alt-rock landscape, fusing the heaviness of Black Sabbath and the sharp bite of Queens of the Stone Age with the restless emotion of Wolf Alice. Their sound shifts seamlessly between heavy and fragile, bringing together disparate worlds of sound from their varied musical backgrounds (influences include Pixies, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, and PJ Harvey).

When asked about their pre-show rituals, the band is anything but demanding: "We’re definitely not divas! Just give us lots of beer, red wine, pizza and we’ll be pretty content."

Their greatest strength, they believe, is their genuine connection: "We’re very close friends and we think genuine connection comes across in the music and the live performance." Conversely, their self-admitted weakness is perfectionism, a trait they accept to ensure the quality of their music.

A dream artistic collaboration? The band would unanimously choose Josh Homme: "His work as a producer and artist has that perfect blend of dark groove and grit that we love. Having him shape our sound would be an absolute dream."

The new single, “Anthony,” recorded in a small practice room in Rotherham, is a definitive track that captures the band’s signature mix of charming vulnerability and chaos. Combining driving drums, snarling guitars, and Ralph’s commanding vocal presence, the track is both vulnerable and explosive.

“Anthony” is available on all streaming platforms from November 14th, 2025.

The release of “Anthony” sets the stage for the band’s debut EP, The City Flowers, which is scheduled for release on November 28th.

Looking ahead to the new year, the band will celebrate the EP release with their debut headline show on January 17th, 2026, at Billy Bootleggers, Nottingham, joined by great local support acts. Following this, their focus will shift to working on new music and gearing up for the 2026 festival season.
