Shkodra Elekronike return in full-effect electro defiance with ‘Fosforon’

W: Mandy Morgan

“Fosforon” is the first glimpse of Shkodra Elektronike’s debut album: a nocturnal, phosphorescent hymn where Albanian iso-polyphony collides with modern club architecture. The track braids trance-inducing vocal drones and call-and-response harmonies with sub-heavy production and stark, metallic percussion. Lyrically, it moves through images of snow, iron and neon — invoking besa and the Kanun (Albania’s code of honour) while an “eagle” (shqipe) dances and refuses to hesitate. The refrain “Goja neon / Fosforon” (“a neon mouth / it phosphoresces”) becomes both a spell and a hook.

Shkodra Elektronike is an Albanian music duo, Beatrice and Kole, based in Italy. Their music is an electronic reinterpretation of the “traditional music” of their hometown - Shkoder.
The project started in 2019 and since then they performed in many European countries. Every performance was warmly welcomed by audience of different nationalities.
