Single Review: The Moss “Your Way”

"Your Way" is an irresistible addition to the indie-rock canon. It proves that The Moss haven't lost their "rolling stone" spirit even as their streaming numbers soar. It's a song for the people who live in vans, the people who surf at dawn, and anyone else tired of being told how to grow.

W: Russell Walters

"Your Way" feels like the sonic embodiment of frontman Tyke James’s life—unfiltered, breezy, and constantly in motion. The track expertly blends the band’s signature '60s surf-rock foundations with a punchy, '90s-indie edge. It’s a track that feels equally at home in a dusty Utah canyon as it does on a French beach.

The production is crisp, allowing the melodic joy reminiscent of the Beatles to shine through, while maintaining the raw, emotional grit found in their breakthrough hit "Insomnia." James’s vocals carry a laid-back authority, delivering a message that feels like a mantra for the modern wanderer.

"Your Way" is an anthem of autonomy. Tyke James captures a universal frustration: the noise of external expectations.

"Everyone has certain ideas on how life should be lived but they’re all just ideas, and you shouldn’t listen to everything people tell you."

The song successfully translates this philosophical independence into a danceable, rebellious rhythm. It’s a reminder that while the world offers a thousand maps, you’re the only one who has to walk the path.

"Your Way" serves as the perfect lead-in for their upcoming full-length album, Big Blue Moon, arriving April 24th. If this single is any indication, the album will lean heavily into the "ubiquitous" nature of the band—small but everywhere, much like the moss they are named after.
