Bouncy drums and silky vocals mix together to create an energetic yet smooth style of R&B missing in the UK

What Inspires You An Artiest ?

Hazl takes inspiration from icons both in the world of music and out. His parents, who both work for the NHS, taught him incredible work ethic, to strive to do good and to follow his passion to the fullest.

Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Anita Baker, Lauryn Hill, Tupac, SZA, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Steph Curry all excelled at their craft and also put particular emphasis on delivering the highest quality in
their respective arenas in critical moments. The obsession with honing one’s craft is infused in Hazl’s DNA, it is a promise to deliver to both himself, his inspirations who came before him, to his fans and to music itself - through hard work, practice and pure love for
the art

What Is Yor Pre-Show Routine?

Where Do You Feel You Fit Into The Music Landscape?

In a culture filming on phones and standing still, there is a growing wave of artists who are trying to revive dance culture in the UK. People have forgotten that music is FELT in the body, and Hazl is
one of the few who is reminding people how to experience music to the fullest. LIKE THAT is the first of many upcoming music videos involving dance breaks like the ones he used to watch in the early
2000s

What Are Your Favourite Musical Genres, And Are There Any You Dislike?

I grew up with a house filled with Motown, Disco, Funk, Soul, Rock ‘n’ Roll and other great genres from the 60s, 70s and 80s. These genres hold a special place in his heart

Is There A Story Behind You're New Single 'Like That' ?

Hazl takes inspiration from multiple different experiences in his dating. Hazl loves fast and hard. LIKE THAT is about treating your queen like a queen, and that’s exactly the type of treatment you get
when you date Hazl. The original idea for the song came from one date night where he bought some expensive wine for his date - despite not really being a fan of wine himself - but was surprised at
how he seemed to enjoy wine with his date. The thought “I can’t believe it. You’ve got me drinking wine” ended up as a lyric in the song, and the rest spawned from there

What Would You Say Is Your Greatest Strength As An Artist Is ?

Aside from his work ethic, Hazl’s ability to envision how a song will be experienced in different Environments (headphones, in a car, in a music video, at a live show) allows him to make creative choices
that optimise the experience and feeling he wants to provide for consumers

What Would You Say Is Your Greatest Weakness As An Artist Is?

Being stuck at a day job

Who Would You Most Like To Collaborate With Artistically?

SZA, KWN or Bryson Tiller

What Was Your Worst Performance?

When he was first starting to perform, his vocal stamina wasn’t that great which led to many voice breaks and vocal fatigue. One show was particularly bad which lead to some of his set being cut short.
Hazl has since developed a stronger voice and greater vocal stamina

What Was The Most Difficult Obstacle You Have Ever Faced And How Did You Overcome It?

Hazl used to experience severe panic attacks before going on stage. A collapsed chest, short breath and being on the verge of tears used to come over him every time it came to performing.
Through introspection, meditation and practice he was able to think more clearly and less judgementally about himself, but it was really exposure therapy that helped him gain confidence on stage. The idea that he loved music more than he feared performing helped him push through. He told himself this every day and thought about his inspirations and how they would approach the situation

What Is Your Creative Process When Making Music?

Hazl needs to find a beat that speaks to him - something that has the right emotional feel and has the right chord movement - he’ll know it when he hears it. Hazl always listens for the melody that speaks to him first. If you try to force it, it won’t happen, but if you allow your subconscious to tap into the musical plane, the song will write itself
