Who are thredd ?

Max Winter, Will Lister and Imogen & The Knife. 

For someone that is yet to discover you, how would you describe your music? 

[IATK] Cold pop - icy, succinct pop music for those who are up for a party, down for a cry. 

What inspired you as an artist/band? 

[MW] eachother. We share a studio in South London so always feel inspired by what the others are doing

What is the message of your music?

What brings you the most joy in life?

[IATK] eating good food with loved ones

[MW] tea

What's your favourite song atm?

[IATK] Currently The Book of Love - Magnetic Fields 

[MW] Nina Simone - Love O’ Love

Is there a story behind the band’s name?

[MW] Immy’s mum came up with it. Thread was taken.

What would you say is your greatest strength and weakness is?

[MW] Strength: famous trio pics 

Weakness: rehearsing

What advise would you give to aspiring musicians?

[IATK] Play a lot, write a lot, get it all out, don’t overthink, make music with your friends 

[MW] start a collective

What music artists would you say have influenced your work? 

[MW] Gorillaz

Who would you most like to collaborate with artistically?

[MW] A film director

Dream venue/festival?

[IATK] Barbican / Park Stage Glasto 

Biggest obstacle & how did you overcome it? 

[IATK] Thredd began in a residency in which we had to play one live show a week with new material, so the deadlines were pretty extreme and meant we had to me super economical with our time and ideas - but ultimately the constraints lead to the music sounding like it does. It’s quite nice knowing the biggest ‘obstacle’ was perhaps the greatest motivator. 

What is your creative process when making music? 

[IATK] We all have our individual processes that we bring to the table and this album is an exploration of all of those and what happens when we come together - each track was a different experimentation on the process, so we don’t really just have one! 

This year, what can we expect?

[IATK] we’re going on tour in September with our very good friend Slow Cooked. You should come!!
