Sweet, Sour, and Ready to Dance: Meet Debbie Sings

Words by Rachel June @mixdjrj

Get ready to dance with professional party girl and lover of music, Copenhagen artist Debbie Sings. Her 2026 release ‘Sucker Punch’ is out on streaming platforms now, listen here. Imagine early 2000’s club music with a modern edge. Music that transports you, elevates you and pours life into you as you move. High energy, electronic music with fast paced fun - Debbie Sings has a passion and is pouring it out for us!

Debbie smiles as glistening tooth gems sparkle back at me. “I love music because of its experiences,” she says, telling me about her adventures performing across the world. “Music and dancing is an escape. The energy draws me in”.

Lyrically, her themes vary song by song. “It’s really hard to write lyrics”, she admits, “It’s like a puzzle piece”. To combat that, she used moodboards and world building to help her write. “The lyrics will almost come out of the feeling that the song gives me”. By listening to each track, the words swiftly follow.

There’s no doubt Debbie adores what she does. She’s a disciplined partygirl and knows how to work, rest, and play. “I love to have fun, go out, listen to music and see friends”, she expressed, “But I also know when it’s time to stop and lock in”.

She embraces a DIY approach, while deeply valuing the people who have helped her bring her music into the world. Collaboration matters to her, especially working with friends and fellow artists. At the core of it all is a genuine passion and love for the art. She leaves me with this:

“Work with people, but don’t depend on them”

Finally I asked Debbie Sings what her music would taste like, and she knew exactly! “Like Debbie’s Sweets - the lollipops I gave out with a QR code to my bandcamp! Sweet Raspberry that gets sour and intense the more you lick it” she beams. So if you fancy something sweet that will give you a burst of sour energy at the end, check her music out and join the party.
