Taiwan Fashion Design Award Crowns New Talent Amidst Global Industry Spotlight
The highly anticipated 2025 TFDA Final Selection Show and Award Ceremony took place yesterday, the 15th, gathering over 650 guests from the fashion industry, government, and academia. As a signature event of Taipei Fashion Week, the Taiwan Fashion Design Award (TFDA) once again affirmed its role as a crucial platform, attracting promising emerging talents from top fashion schools across the globe.

Winners Showcase Innovation and Technical Prowess
From an impressive pool of 627 entries spanning 25 countries and regions, the competition culminated in the crowning of this year's top talents.
The First Prize, including a US$10,000 cash prize, was awarded to Hsu Yi-Shiuan for her collection titled “Human Reproduction Project.” The jury was particularly impressed by the collection's creativity and innovation.





Second Prizes, each with a US$5,000 award, went to Hung Kai-Lun for “DuST. PYTHoN. DaTA.” and Kakeru Nishiwaki from Japan for “TRAUMARCHIVES.”










Third prizes, valued at US$3,000 each, recognized specific strengths: Huang Tzu-Han for Best Use of Fabrics, Weng Yu-Hsuan for Best Pattern Making, and Naphat Tansuwan from Thailand for Best Market Potential.












International Jury Lauds Sustainability and Vision
The competition's global prestige was underscored by the distinguished international jury. Panel members included renowned designers Fujiwara Dai (Japan) and Stephane Dou, alongside industry leaders such as Jane Singer (USA), Managing Director of Inside Fashion; Florence Lu, Curator of Taipei Fashion Week; Tomonori Matsui (Japan), CEO of ONE O Ltd.; Eliza Yang, Vice President of onefifteen; and Charlotte Chiang, Director of the Innovative & Sustainable Design Department at TTF.
The jury collectively applauded the finalists for demonstrating exceptional creativity, sustainability, and technical excellence.
Twelve finalists presented their collections on stage, each offering a unique vision weaving together philosophy, culture, emotion, and technology. The designs captivated the audience with shifting textures and silhouettes that revealed the beauty of time, psychology, and nature. Furthermore, the collections strongly featured innovation and sustainability, exemplified through the creative application of recycled fabrics, zero-waste cutting techniques, modular design, and multifunctional details. The emerging designers presented a fresh aesthetic and a clear forward-looking spirit, drawing inspiration from history, identity, and craftsmanship.












Pei-Li Chen, the Deputy Director General of the Industrial Development Administration (IDA) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, emphasized the long-term vision driving the TFDA. Over the past 39 years, the IDA has actively nurtured Taiwan’s fashion ecosystem by forging strong collaborations between government, industry, and academia to bolster design competitiveness.
In conjunction with the Ministry of Culture’s Taipei Fashion Week, the TFDA serves a dual purpose: discovering outstanding apparel talent and driving high-value innovation through product differentiation. Crucially, the platform is designed to provide these emerging designers with invaluable international exposure to showcase their groundbreaking work on the global stage.
