Keyside - Cocodamol

A reflection of the Gen-Z experience, Keyside drop 'Cocodamol' ahead of their self-titled debut album. Aiming to replace modernity’s “deep thinking, with few thoughts at all, the idea of reaching for the nearest potion or person and revelling in tight corners of nocturnal life”.
A throwback to the sound of Vampire Weekend and Circa Waves, the Liverpool group are leading the way with a peaking, bedroom pop soundscape, intricately aligned by earnest lyrics within a light, purposeful guitar riff. This track is sure to connect the dots ahead of the album and mapping out their upcoming slew of gigs.

NOAHFINNCE - Mr Overwhelm

With pop-punk styled vocal lines, with all the harsh push of Pierce the Veil and My Bloody Valentine, NOAHFINNCE bring us 'Mr Overwhelm', ahead of his appearance at All Points East in London in August.
The single’s titular character Mr Overwhelm is stated by the singer-songwriter as “a manifestation of anxiety, fear and hopelessness that comes with the world in its dystopic state”, citing a desire to retreat into fantasy or yearning for a time that never existed.
With a thrashing chorus, maintaining some pop-punk sensibilities but building a more metallic twist, this single is loud, longing, heavy and building of the overwhelming feeling of youth in modernity. NOAHFINNCE is touring the UK over October, not one to miss for fans of this evocative new single.

Dogviolet - Daughter

From their forthcoming debut EP 'Wilting, shoegaze/grunge outfit Dogviolet demonstrate a cathartic and ghostly capability on their single 'Daughter'. Built across a hum of chugging guitars and pounding percussion, the sound is contrasted by an ethereal angst laid out on the vocal tracks, by Naz Toorabally and Ella Patenall. Naz labels the single as “a breaking of generational trauma, the control of the eldest daughter” and a pushback against duty.
A floating verse transports us to a wall-of-sound chorus which captures notions of exhaustive frustration and a freeing melody. For fans of The Cranberries or Warpaint, these are ones to watch.

Mon Rayon - One of a Kind feat. Vira Milton

From their forthcoming 'Image Repertoire' album, 'One of a Kind' is labelled by one half of the group, Christoffer Zetterlund, as baroque and grandiose. Drawing from 60s US orchestral jazz and French Pop, this single offers all the meticulous composition, tastefulness and elegance of the era. The Swedish duo brought in sensational vocalist Vira Milton, leaning into the duet standard of the genres to create an extensive, discordantly beautiful harmony, comparable to Minnie Riperton.
Other half of the group, Josef Ask, aimed to create a sound that felt truly alive, defining that “it should sound organic”, achieving a beauty that seemingly always existed. Perfectly orchestrated, soulful yet organised, the album and duo have more to offer beyond the single moving forward, and we will be keeping tabs.

Family Stereo – DLR

Folky, artsy and hovering, Family Stereo are dropping debut album 'The Thread'. Offering up a treat for fans of the storytelling of Neil Young, the playful instrumentation of CMAT and the lush authenticity of Adrianne Lenker, new single 'DLR' is a joy.
With an upbeat, acoustic indie rock feel, embellished by lap steel, xylophones and keys Family Stereo shows us that a return to youth through sound is as real as it gets. The musician behind the name, Blake Watt said “I love telling a story or conveying a feeling in the simplest way, you don’t lose anything behind the frills that way”. Jaime Rosso – Walk

Margate electronic artist Jaime Rosso releases his 'Keep Stepping!' EP in September. The first track taken from it, 'Walk', offers deeply forward moving rhythm, in a groove dominant feel akin to ANOTR or LF System. A distinct playfulness, 'Walk' brightens up ears with jazzy synths, over a pressing backbeat and airy vocals.
Perfect for the summer, with our personal hype for the full project building, Rosso lands this single just in time. He said “I started the EP spurred on by the simple tonics of everyday life: walking, talking, dancing and dreaming. It became an ode to these daily rituals, the optimism that keeps us moving”.
