The Dream Machine have officially unleashed their third album, 'Fort Perch Rock', today. To celebrate the long-player's arrival, the Wirral five-piece has dropped a cinematic video for their latest track, 'Angel Heart'. Inspired by the 1987 neo-noir film of the same name, the single is a high-octane collision of ghostly premonitions and seaside dancehall energy, blending gritty radio-rock guitars with the skittish, vintage swirl of Farfisa melodies.
"A rollercoaster ride through voodoo, fairground attractions, and heady jukebox alt-pop."
The album arrives while the band is mid-flight, trading the churning greens of the Irish Sea for a European tour alongside psych-pop legends Kula Shaker. Having already secured heavy rotation on BBC 6 Music and critical acclaim from Rolling Stone UK for previous singles 'Flowers On The Razorwire' and 'Things That Make Us Cry', the band is now diving deeper into their singular world of "big sounds and small-town quirks."
"Trading the Wirral for the thrills of Europe, the band returns to the UK for a run of intimate, firecracker performances."
Frontman and lyricist Zak McDonnell has recently peeled back the curtain on the band’s DNA, citing everything from Phil Spector’s wall-of-sound production to the cult aesthetics of the Coney Island Circus Sideshow as key influences. With musical nods to kindred spirits like The Lemon Twigs and Felt, 'Angel Heart' sets a frantic, drivetime tempo for the eight unreleased tracks that round out the record.
