The ‘Why’ Behind the Band: WineMom’s Essential Lifeboat Playlist

WineMom’s New EP Drops April 26th.

W: Karl Watson

Every artist has a survival kit—a stash of songs that act as a mirror to their experiences and a spark for their creativity. For the members of WineMom, these ten tracks represent the "why" behind the band. Ahead of their upcoming EP release on April 26th, Rosanna, Reese, Matthew, and Millie invite us into their personal archives.

From the experimentation of Simon & Garfunkel to the joy personified by Earth, Wind & Fire, this selection captures the complexity and catchiness that WineMom strives for in their own performances. These are the anthems they’d carry into the unknown—the songs that keep the fire burning when the horizon feels endless.

Rosanna: ABBA: Knowing Me Knowing You

This song taught me so much about songwriting and how creating a strong atmosphere of emotion is so important in a power pop ballad. I would die for ABBA

Janis Joplin - Try (Just a Little Bit Harder)

I heard this song in a watch mojo video and I was like “who the hell is this woman and where did she come from?!” There have not been many voices that have been able to replicate what she has accomplished. A one of a kind voice and a solid show band production.

The Rolling Stones: It's Only Rock 'n Roll

A 14 year old Rosanna was in love with Harry styles but had a secret pounding crush Mick jagger. This song has everything a young music listener needs. It’s your bread and butter rock and roll and it’s an anthem to the people who just want to escape into the world of rock.

Reese: Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should've Come Over

This song personifies soul in music in my opinion. It thought me not to hold back, and let your art shine a mirror on how you truly feel about your life and your experiences.

Simon & Garfunkel: The Boxer

This song inspires me as an artist to absolutely go and try anything. The snare in the elevator shaft story is inspiring to think outside of the box and always try anything once. The lyrics are also so personal and vivid. Great album.

The Beach Boys: God Only Knows

Kind of self explanatory. Brian is an absolute master at music production and writing and will always be a huge inspiration for me. The harmonies are so beautiful and it is a timeless classic.

Matthew: Earth, Wind & Fire: September

September is joy personified, the highlight of any night of dancing and partying.

Tedeschi Trucks Band - Midnight in Harlem

Midnight in Harlem is a song I could listen to forever and still find a new facet to. Susan Tedeschi’s voice has so many layers and captures all these emotions so evocatively. And derek trucks’ slide guitar work has to be heard to be believed.

Millie: Neil Young -Harvest Moon

Harvest Moon is a song I grew up with and hold dear to my heart. A timeless tune that  that feels both timeless and nostalgic at  same time, I think it is a perfect composition and is truly the ultimate love song.

Electric Light Orchestra - Livin' Thing

Livin’ Thing was one of those songs I heard for the first time and went ‘woah, what is this?’. I had never heard a pop song that was so complex and catchy at the same time. It’s so impressive that the instrumentation in this track was all written and produced by Jeff Lynne featuring a real orchestra , a choir of backing vocals and acoustic instruments!
