The Lifeboat Playlist: Spaghetti Westerns’ Top 10

NEW SINGLE "WON’T STOP MOVING" OUT NOW

W: Karl Watson

Stripped of the noise, the lights, and the labels, what remains is the music that truly matters. The Lifeboat Playlist is a raw deep dive into the sonic DNA of the artists we love, forcing them to choose the ten definitive tracks they’d carry into isolation. It’s a survival kit built on gut-level resonance—a collection of anthems, heartbreaks, and high-octane riffs that define a lifetime. From stadium-sized roars to vulnerable late-night confessions, these are the songs that keep the fire burning when the horizon feels endless.

For Spaghetti Westerns, these ten tracks aren’t just influences—they’re blueprints. They represent the standards they measure themselves against and the kind of songwriting that made them want to start a band in the first place. Each one captures something essential—whether it’s ambition, atmosphere, melody, or sheer conviction—and together they form the foundation of how the band approaches writing and performing today.

1: Prince - Kiss

This song is just so full of energy, in vocal performance, in the guitars, and every other aspect of the song. The song writing is amazing, and it inspired the very first song we wrote as a band called “Girl, I’m Easy,” which is releasing on the 7th of May.

2 Maroon 5 - This Love

This song is what we are going for as a band. It’s a perfect pop song—unbelievably catchy and it makes you want to dance and sing along.

3: Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son

This is an absolute classic. Although we make a completely different genre, the production and guitar tones are very inspirational to us.

4: Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin'

When asking friends and family, we often get told we sound like the Scissor Sisters. Ever since, this and many other songs of theirs have become a reference point for us.

5: Kool & The Gang – Get Down On It

This is a banger. The chorus gang vocals have inspired many of our own, most notably “Won’t Stop Moving.” It really makes you want to sing along when you hear a crowd.

6: Rufus and Chaka Khan - Ain't Nobody

This song just hooks you with all the synth parts and songwriting. It’s a classic. Chaka Khan’s vocals are incredible, and we aspire to write music as catchy as this.

7: Dirty Loops & Cory Wong - Follow The Light

This song is absolutely magnetic. It really shows what you can do with this genre in the modern day. It’s so full of detail and little ear candy, and it’s produced phenomenally.

8: Lawrence – Hip Replacement

This song is so catchy and energetic! Every little detail is perfect, but it isn’t overdone. We got to see Lawrence do a talk at our university where they discussed touring and doing everything independently. It was very inspirational and shows how far you can come without a label backing you.

9: Vulfpeck – Dean Town

This is an absolute masterclass in modern funk. It progresses in the most beautiful way. You can learn a lot just by studying this song.

10: Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music

This song is just so catchy; the bass riff is just too good. Before the band was properly formed, I believe this song is what we envisioned we’d sound like. Although our sound has developed a lot since then, this has been an inspiration since the start.
