4 Band Members, 1 Lifeboat: The Tracks That Built FAT SALAD

Stripped of the noise, the lights, and the labels, what survives when everything else is washed away?

The Lifeboat Playlist is a raw, no-nonsense look into the sonic DNA of South London’s own FAT SALAD. We forced the four-piece rock outfit to make the ultimate sacrifice: choose the definitive tracks they’d pack into isolation if the world were ending tomorrow.

Fuelled by an unstoppable drive to create with love and discipline, FAT SALAD's origins run deep. From the timeless grooves of classic rock to the visceral aggression of scream metal, these are the songs that sparked their journey, shaped their sound, and made them exactly who they are today.

W: Joseph Murphy I: Robyn

Aydan: Vocals & Rhythm Guitar

1: Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Californication,

It sounds cliched, but it’s one of the first songs I played live, long ago when we started. I’ve got so many memories with it, and the melody is really just iconic.

.

2: Kings Of Leon - The Bucket

We listen to this when we’re driving down hot summer roads back near our hometown. It encapsulates a freedom that music gives you and helps you step back and appreciate life.

.

3:Cage The Elephant - Shake Me Down

it's an incredibly well- written song. It hits you right down your spine, your nerves. That’s what we want to bring out in our music, to make people feel that way.

Elliott: Lead Guitar

4: ACDC - You Shook Me All Night Long

It just rocks, man, it's perfect for the gym, which is a big deal for Aydan and me. You hear it, and you’ve got an extra rep in you, and that carries into everything we do, pushing further. It makes you feel immortal.

Elliott, Lead Guitar and Aydan, Vocals and Rhythm Guitar

5: The Rollin Stones - It's Only Rock n' Roll

Me and my brother, Aydan used to listen to this when we were younger, on the way to school. Dad always had it on; it's just such an easy groove which shows what you can do with
simple playing. It's one of the songs that made us want to be in a band.

.

6: Kings of Leon - Arizona,

The song paints a beautiful picture of a landscape; it takes me to another place. The sound is really powerful when put with the lyrics.

Rob: Bass

7: Bury Tomorrow - Black Flame

This song means a lot to me. I was picked by Bury Tomorrow to feature in a music video for the song, made up of a band of their fans. It was a super awesome experience. I still play the bass they gave me that day, just unforgettable.

.

8: You Me At Six - Liquid Confidence

It's everything I love in a song, super catchy, super high energy. It got me into wanting to play guitar and then eventually bass and be in a band

Natan: Drums & Percussion

9: Aerosmith Sweet Emotion

it’s a feel-good song, the chorus just makes you feel awesome and ready for anything. Especially if I were on a lifeboat.

.

10: Fleetwood Mac - Landslide

it’s a great song with a great story, it's relaxing. It's from an unforgettable album, and it really just makes you sit back.
