W: Peter James May
The solo project of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Beth Rettig, the album is fully performed, self-produced and recorded by the London-based artist.
Taking a hiatus from previous incarnation BLiNDNESS to create a new canvas, Where We Sleep is a space to express her own personal vision and a route to catharsis, ‘The Arsonist’ is a collection of tracks tackling themes of personal growth, vulnerability and transformation. Accompanied by a raw and acute honesty, the album is set to beautifully curated beats, textured guitars, and powerful storytelling. Led by Rettig’s distinctive vocals, a blend of dark pop, filthy electronica and guitars create an atmospheric and tantalising soundscape navigating the darker corners of consciousness, via synths, loops, guitars, bass and programmed beats.
Influenced by PJ Harvey, Jesus and The Mary Chain, Nine Inch Nails, Massive Attack, Gary Numan and Kate Bush, to the storytelling of Fiona Apple, Beth recently launched the album at the wonderful Dash The Henge record shop in Camberwell, South London.
