If you’ve not already heard of Primavera Sound then it’s a very easy-sell. If the Barcelona Coastline, gorgeous sunshine and days & nights of grooving to the best contemporary music out there sound like a good deal to you then Primavera Sound is the place for you. Lucky enough to attend the 5 days of action in 2025, here at ASBO, we became convinced that it’s probably the best major music festival in Europe right now, maybe even better than glasto…

Now we know that’s a very bold claim, but it’s no diss to the trail-blazing, bucket-list party that is Glastonbury Festival. It rather stands testament to the emphatic success of Primavera Sound as a home for the coalescence of the best main-stream and alternative music in the world, a perfect picture of the European Zeitgeist. So without further ado, here’s our look at the festival’s 24th edition.

The line-up came earlier than ever before last year, with a 150 strong cohort of artists announced in late September, representing a rich variety of genres, ages and styles in a perfect line-up symbiosis. Legendary names from each corner of the musical compass: The Cure, Doja Cat, The XX and Gorillaz may top the poster, but its list of eye-catching artists just keeps going.

From the British Isles, both Blood Orange and Wet Leg will be capitalising on the light-speed momentum they generated through stand-out 2025 Album releases next summer in the Catalan capital. The festival will also feature some of the most beloved British and Irish alternative artists that have been putting the work in for years, and now look set for a big 2026 Including the ethereal shoegaze of NewDad, the infectious rock of Yard Act and the big Brighton Punk of Lambrini Girls.

With Yard Act set to release an album later this year, the lads from Leeds will be eyeing up a big return to the festival, but it’s sure for almost all the artists on a line-up like this they’ll be tempted as punters as much as music-makers themselves.

One of the best bits teased by the 5 days of action is also the promotion of the world of electronic music in its own genre-spanning right. With no fear of backlash, or belittling, of what is an infinitely parallel universe of music, artists will be featured across the electro spectrum. Modernity all the way to certified history-makers, a time-line of electronic music’s versatility will be painted. From the indie electroclash of Fcukers, and the hard Latin techno and neo-perreo of SixSex all the way to legendary names including the two national musical treasures: Carl Cox and A Guy Called Gerald, and many more.

Overall, it’s really this musical variety that sets Primavera apart from any other competitor, as a true heavyweight champion of the festival scene. So, in a year when Glasto’s taking a break anyway, why bother choosing between your favourite children? Get down to the Catalan capital and kick-off your summer with a smorgasbord of genres, coastal vistas and
long nights of music - we know we will.
