Australian four-piece The Lazy Eyes are back. The band has officially announced their highly anticipated second album, Cheesy Love Songs, arriving August 21, alongside the release of their soaring new single, "How Does It Feel To Be In Love?"
Inspired by the anthemic, piano-led sincerity of Coldplay and the enduring, intricate genius of Brian Wilson, "How Does It Feel To Be In Love?" is a track steeped in raw candor.
Lyrically simple yet profoundly moving, the band masterfully captures the universal highs and sobering lows of romance, tugging at every emotional chord. Rather than forcing a narrative, the track pairs its emotional vulnerability with a vibrant, kaleidoscopic instrumental palette, leaving the meaning entirely open to the listener's own heart.
“For me, this song is one of the main pillars of the album in terms of its message,” shares songwriter Itay Shachar. “It asks a very simple question but which is almost impossible to answer, or that everyone could answer differently. I really like that open-ended nature. Sometimes I don't know how it feels to be in love, but I miss the times when I think I have been, and I guess the song also has a yearning quality to it for that reason.”
Named in homage to their very first release, "Cheesy Love Song," the upcoming album is a brilliant love letter to classic pop. It delivers a rich collection of rose-tinted missives defined by swelling choruses, bittersweet yearning, and an effortless balance of ornate yet carefree melodies.
While The Lazy Eyes possess the technical wizardry of master musicians, they never let proficiency overshadow pure, heartfelt songwriting. By embracing a grounded minimalism—capturing exactly who they are right now without the weight of expectation—the band fully delivers on the massive promise of their debut. Above all else, Cheesy Love Songs translates complex human experiences into something remarkably simple, real, and unforgettable.
